The Honeygo Run Landfill team takes multiple steps to protect the environment. All waste is screened to ensure unacceptable waste is not accepted, and our standard operating procedures are designed to exceed regulatory standards.
Protection of all water sources is a priority at Honeygo Run. The Landfill is designed with a highly engineered composite liner system designed to contain any liquids that percolate through the construction and demolition material. The liquids are collected in the leachate collection system and discharged into the sanitary sewer system. Surface water at the site is controlled through a series of diversion berms and drainage ditches and sediment ponds to preserve its quality. In addition, Honeygo Run Landfill assesses groundwater with 17 individual groundwater monitoring wells. Each well is routinely tested to verify the groundwater’s safety.
Landfill gas is collected through a series of pipes and safely destroyed at an on-site flare. In addition, the Landfill’s surface and exterior gas probes are also regularly monitored to evaluate the landfill gas management system performance.
